Have you noticed how many Blog posts have been written on Active Rain about "Shift" these days? No duh! Please.....! Wake up America. Folks the economy has been in "Shift" for several years right now. The bubble started to let some steam out in 2004. We are now going into 2010! We are still in meltdown mode that has been placed on life supports that is propping up failed worthless banks, and their worthless assets. This rescue has been made possible by corrupt politicians that have pledged our future tax dollars and your kids inheritance. I see an unavoidable tsunami is building....Rising real unemployment, soon to be rising interest rates, higher taxes and plunging real estate values lie just ahead. The fact is that we are in deep "Shift" and may go a heck of a lot deeper before this is all over.
Folks you need to get a life. personally, I really love unique posts and personal insights of raw 'genius!' So instead of grasping on to someone else’s book, drinking their Koolaid, and sharing the authors ideas what are your own thoughts? Share how you plan to set yourself right in the lousy sputtering economy? Have you developed a business plan that will work for the coming years? Hi Jim! Your title caught my attention. :o) I am definitely going to evaluate what has been working for me this past year and try to ride out this mess. Best wishes that you will have a great 2010!
Ann
What works for me is knowing people like you Jim!
I wish you and your family a very happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year!
Call me anytime!!!
Jim, the SHIFT posts are another promotion from Active Rain for Members to get MORE points. The book and the concept are several years old now, but SOME just seem to be discovering it. Where are they? What is old to some, is new to others. However, point well taken. If they are just figuring out a SHIFT has occurred, I agree, they are in DEEP SHIFT. Life keeps shifting so they better pay attention to what is happening NOW. I ALWAYS appreciate your common sense and practical real estate posts. Hope you had a Merry Christmas!!
Jim...Shift is just one small piece of one's armamentarium about the business model...Reconstruction and creativity coupled with competency and perseverance are required for the economic woes that lay ahead...
Jim, I agree we're in for a rough ride this year and I am buckling up my seatbelt. No more clients with un-realistic expectations for me.
Linda Metallo, Re/max Impact, Lockport, IL. (Chicago)
Hi Jim. Boy, you are really coming out swinging!:)
I have noticed quite a spike in "Shift" promotion. Wasn't sure where it was coming from...
Thanks for writing,
Ken
Jim,
Shift is a decent way to describe what's happening all around us, and it going deep has a good chance of becoming a reality. Let's hope the ride can be smoothed out, though.
Jim ~ Would you Please not hold anything back? Tell it like it really is, will ya! A book is not going to out of Shift. I have made my business plan for 2010 and I am currently writing my action steps to move closer to my goals. The Shift blogs are on a contest which choose not to enter. Don't have the book but I am Shifting into 2010.
Jim, I am with you, I think it is a little late to discover the "shift"
Jim
Shifts happen and will continue to happen we have to be prepared for the future shifts.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
Hi Jim...I read the book last year, others are just discovering it because of a challenge to get more points here..we make our own bed(market), setting Goals is number one, then a plan to impairment your goals always works, be realistic, reach a little for increase in business and life should pan out as planned..Pay it Forward in your life, it's very rewarding..see the movie
MERRY CHRISTMAS JIM
Hey, Jimmy, you won't be getting any extra points :) Happy New Year.
Jim I'm guilty of writing 3 SHIFT posts, but I used it to help people understand what it takes to stay in this business for 33 years
OK Jim........If it helps, I for one have never read SHIFT and probably never will. I completely changed my business model 3 years ago and I'm way past shifting. Maybe I'll write a book titled "While you were shifting I was accelerating"
Ann Allen ~ SRES ASP e-PRO REALTOR® ~ Birmingham Alabama Luxury Homes (Keller Williams Realty) We always need to re-evaluate our business.
Luke Constantino (RE/MAX AT The Slope) Luke my friend from Brooklyn, a Joyous Holiday season and a Happy New Year to you and the family.
Jim:
Something really refreshing about your blog is that you "tell it like it is." I respect that. Now if everyone would heed the message, maybe it would bring out the "genius" in them; possibly transforming this forum also.
Hope you had a great Christmas Jim. Thanks for sharing.
Gary Woltal - Associate Broker REALTOR® Dallas Ft. Worth (Keller Williams Realty) Gary. Thank you. I agree they are in deep "SHIFT!" Gary, I would also like to thank you for posting so many inspiring and upbeat posts. Keep up the good job!
Cherise Selley (Selley Group Real Estate, LLC) I agree. What lies ahead needs "Reconstruction and creativity coupled with competency and perseverance are required for the economic woes that lay ahead..."
Linda Metallo (Re/max Impact) I think we need to be more selective in the work we choose. Less chaos is always better.
Ken Tracy Realtor Naperville Illinois Real Estate (Keller Williams Naperville) Ken, it's the "New Yorker" in me! I cannot help myself. Actually as I've found out here there is a points contest taking place taht I was unaware of.
Esko Kiuru - Las Vegas NV Mortgage Consultant (FHA, VA, Conventional, Refinance, Jumbo) Esko, I think we all hope this is some oil to calm the waves.
June Tassillo Your Go to Girl & Realtor for Life! (Classic GMAC Real Estate - Franklin, NC 28734) I like your attitude...that it was lies ahead we have to prepare for. Smart. Best wishes in 2010!
Anne Hensel Real Estate Professional buy or sell St. Pete It is sort of like getting excited over last months rainstorms. Deal with it.
Lou Ludwig CRB, CRS, CIPS, GRI, SRES, TRC, e-PRO, (Ludwig & Associates) In the 70's we had run away inflation under Jimmy Carter. In the 80's under Reagan we had 17% mortgages. There will always be change in life, it is a given that change is the only constant.
Victoria Oak Bay Realtor Fred Carver 250-598-2963 for Victoria Oak Bay Homes (Re/Max Camosun Oak Bay & Surrounding Area Real Estate) Growing our business is always key...even if only incrementally.
Jane Peters Los Angeles Living, Los Angeles Homes (BRC Realty Group) I know, but I feel so much better after writing this. :)
Karen Kruschka - Fairfax Prince William Stafford County VA Real Estate Service (Long & Foster America's #1 Privately Owned Real Estate Co.) I actually have noting against it...but I could not help but notice everything was about "Shift!" Happy New Year to you and Art!
Bryant Tutas-Tutas Towne Realty, Inc LOL! I agree with you totally. While other learn how to shift, I've already crossed the finish line. In the last few years I have worked at rebuilding my web model. We've done that, and this was actually a very good year for business. I know exactly where the work came from. I am very grateful that I saw this coming, and worked towards a solution.
C Lloyd McKenzie, MBA, e-PRO, CDPE (ALLSTAR REALTY, LLC) Thank you so much my friend. I think we all are obligated to help one another on this journey of life. There are more solutions than most people think. I have been very blessed and I try to freely share.
Thanks for writing this as I was getting sick of all the blog posts about the SHIFT. I guess I feel this way because I have always been self motivated and a book would never influence how I think about working.
As with most real estate books Jim, the information is dated between the time it is written and published. I take the information I can use and leave the rest.
Counting down the time till 2010,
Paul
Jim,
If you've read some of my previous posts, you know I've been predicting a "Shift storm" for 2010.
My 12 posts on The Shift was a book review for Bob's contest. I already had this book, so it was no
tough task. Actually there is a ton of comments on this book out there for the same reason.
Bill Gassett Metrowest Massachusetts Real Estate (RE/MAX Executive Realty) Bill I thought it was just me. LOL! I feel the same way.
Paul Henderson, Realtor ® Lacey & DuPont Washington homes (RE/MAX Professionals & Four Seasons Inc.) You have found the better way!
Terry Chenier (Homelife Glenayre Realty) Terry I agree there will be a "Shift Storm" on many fronts next year. BTW..you write some incredible thought provoking posts. Keep up the good work!
Hey Jim
Way to tell it like it is, and I hope you had a great Christmas.
LOL!
I like that deep shift. I also like your Merry Christmas!
your friend in Charlottesville Virginia!
Terry Lynch (LAR Notary and Closing Services) You're welcome. Merry Christmas to you also.
Charlottesville Real Estate - Your Trusted Broker Charles McDonald (RE/MAX Assured Properties - No one sells more Real Estate) Merry Christmas Charles.
Hi Jim, I completing a great 2009 and believe it is because of a total focus on those I meet and what they really need, not what I need. We should be here to serve, and if we do it well, then we will also do well. Best to you for 2010!
Yikes Jim, tell us how you really feel! I too noticed many a blog about "Shift". Don't know what it is really about however, I agree with you things are going to get worse and focusing on what is essential like how to prepare ourselves for the future is a wise course to follow.
Frank Kliewer (Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Executive) I totally agree with you. It is about them, and it is about service.
'Dee' Mayers : License #01461870 San Gabriel Valley, CA REALTOR® (First Citywide Realty) I think that anyone that has common sense understand the government has put a lot of money into this, and will pull it out. We must be prepared for when it happens.
Jim - Like you, I'm secretly disliking these SHIFT posts. I know about the Bribe that's been going on and I was actually looking forward towards some members' posts on this book that I never read. I was hoping that each post I read would shed a different light on how they plan to make this SHIFT. But instead, so many just merely introduce this book and tell me where I could find it.
I must say, Grrrrrr..... That's all.
Jim, I agree with you on the Posts for "Shift", and the contest thing.....well thats not my Bag. New Agents might find it informative and useful even if a seasoned agent like yourself does not. New Agents might need a little help with their business plan for 2010 and the Tips and Tricks are useful.
Have You Even Skimmed through a Copy?
Loreena Yeo - Broker|Realtor(R) of Frisco-TX-Homes (214) 783-2210 (3:16 team REALTY) Personally I also feel the book is also a recruiting tool. In one sense it also is not fair to other companies because it is a book written by the head of one company. What if the contest was something that was something only used by Coldwell banker, Century 21, ERA,Weichert or RE/MAX? I would love to hear what others have to say...
Jim-lets face it if it wasn't for the points to write about SHIFT most folks wouldn't be writing the posts. Transparency is o obvious when it comes to what some people are really doing on Active Rain. And yes I wrote a couple of posts but I'm not going to write 10 of them as others are doing.
Jim don't worry no one will have jobs but they will have health care.
Michael J. Gallo (Keller Williams, Elite Partners) Well it could be a recuiting or an SEO...laden post that will attract those searching for Gary Keller's Book to find Active Rain instead. That is just how the Internet works.
Cindy Jones-Northern Virginia Real Estate & Military Relocation Services (RE/MAX Allegiance #1 RE/MAX Company in the World) I know business is slow, but I agree. I am not writing a load of Blogs on that. I've covered that story and my own solutions in many of my posts.
John Walters (Licensed in Louisiana U.S.A.) (Slidell, Pearl River, Lacombe) LOL! You nailed it! Whether you want it or not!
Jim - Now, this is the funny side of Jim Crawfor and I love it. This welly made me laugh out loud. I couldn't agree with you more, that's probably why I love it.
Carol Culkin (Houlihan Lawrence Realty) Thanks. Sometimes it is best to approach these topics from the lighter side.
