It is sort of what is done in a commercial real estate deal. A buyer is interested in buying a home, but wants an exploratory period. He can do all the inspections they want, and at the endof the predetermined period, they can move forward or withdraw their offer without penalty. They can also address an issues that came up and ask for the seller to to correct them. If they do not come to agreement, the buyer can withdraw. If the buyer lets the time for the options expire, the home is sold as "As is!"
