Buy American - Support One Another!

Made in USADo you remember when a toaster or a coffee pot was made in the USA, and it lasted for 15 years?  Remember that last glass of orange juice you drank, was the juice you drank from oranges grown in the USA?  Do you read labels?  You should!  Look at the produce before you buy it.  Most brands of orange juice right now are using juice from outside the USA.  Why?  It is chaper.  Lower wages, no benefits for workers, no child labor laws and bigger profits for the company!

In a regular suppermarket I recently noticed that peeled garlic in the supermarkets is from China.  I would really prefer to buy something grown in California, Texans or Flodia or anywhere in the USA.  I remember when there was some pride when I would buy an item that said "MADE IN THE USA." What happened?  We don't seem to manufacture, or produce anything anymore other than homes you cannot give away!  How is the service sector ecomony working now that we do not manyfacture anything?  Buying products, and produce that is made or grown in the USA is a good thing for Americans!

The American economy cannot recover unless there is job creation.

We can all help in our own little way by just being more conscious before we spend our money.  We have choices every day.  American jobs can be created on every level from those choices, no matter how small they are.  Jobs are created when there is a reason to pay someone for the services they provided.  Yet everyday citizens of the USA go out and aimlessly purchase items that are not made, or grown in the USA.  Then we sit back and complain...wages are dropping, home prices are collapsing, less homes are sold, home prices decline and unemployment is near or above double digits!  No duh!  What part are you playing in job loss?

During the "Cash for clunkers" deal, most Americans went out and bought foreign cars.  80% of the foreign cars purchased were Toyotas'.  It does not matter that they were manufactured or assembled in the USA, the profits go overseas.  Yet, in Japan, they had a similar program, but foreign cars did not receive the incentives.  Why?  Because it did not benefit Japan to do so!

We all have it within our power as consumers to make choices everyday that can affect and benefit others.  Stop whining about the economy and do something about it, and start reading before you buy!  Get on the phones and complain to companies that do not support the USA.  What are you doing today that will help another person in the USA keep their job?   I make an effort every day to read labels, and I call companies and tell them I can no longer in good conscience buy their products.  I am proud to be a citizen of the USA , and want to support in every little way I can!

****By the way, this is not xenophobia, it is common sense!****
