What's in a Logo? Everything!

What's in a Logo?  Everything if you are in business.  Just think "Branding!"  A logo is a symbol or icon used to recognize your business or service by the public.  Employing a logo for a corporate or individual identity is something that should be carefully thought out carefully.  A logo in that sense should be a long term play and strategic in nature. What image would you want to convey most to the public?  This is a very weighted subject.  A logo is something not to be trifled with or changed often. We are not looking to run a logo of the month contest.  Once the public recognizes a logo...it does so in a long term association. That is why it is called "Branding!" When you think about it, a logo is really is a visual bookmark!  In our real estate world, a picture of the Rock of Gibraltar allows us to think quickly of Prudential Real Estate or a red, white and blue balloon we think of RE/MAX.  has the icon for those two successful companies ever changed?  It won't!

In real estate the word "Branding" is thrown around at seminars like confetti at a New Years Eve party, yet most agents never really get it.  We often look for a way to brand ourselves without even knowing what the simple implications of what that really means.  First of all we are in real estate to make a living.  It is simple, we make a living by assisting persons buying or selling real estate. So we really cannot say we are earning a living if we've never sold a home or just sold one or two homes. A real estate career is based on selling many homes.  The key to that success is to do more than a few deals.  A logo allows us to maximize that in our marketing.  The public must remember each an every ad, but in an associative way by connecting a graphic to you and your services.  Once an ad is run it is quickly forgotten, but when a logo is employed in an ad...the  logo identifies you as the for that source of business.   So there are a few components that make that happen.

The first item in marketing is that consumers have to find you and identify quickly what you do or specialize in.  That visual has to be memorable enough that the viewer will remember it.   That is done by visuals or graphics.  A logo is a graphic or emblem that is designed specifically to promote you or your company in an instant public recognition!  How?  Well you've heard the phrase, "One picture  is worth a 1000 words"...well it's true!

The logo usually employs an identifiable graphic or symbol that represents your business or service, and your business name or slogan!  Do you or your company use a logo?  Have you every thought of using a logo to brand you to your marketplace?
