Marietta Square in Historic Marietta GA
Marietta Square – Laid out in the style of many of Savannah’s grid-like streets, Historic Marietta Square provides a panoramic rest in Glover Park. Surrounding the park you’ll find local restaurants, The Theatre in The Square, several museums, antique shops, and local wine tasting. The alleyways across from the park take you down cobblestone paths to some of the historic register districts of antebellum homes. There is also a narrated trolley tour which will give you the best idea of how to lay out your plans to visit the many area attractions such as the Root House Museum, one of Marietta’s oldest homes built around 1845.
Glover Park also hosts concerts the last Friday night of every month from April through August. There is a wonderful Farmer’s Market on Saturdays from May through September. From June through November, you can visit all the “haunts” as a guide takes you on a lantern-led ghost walk. If you really enjoy the Fourth of July, you simply can’t miss the annual Fourth in the Park Parade and Fireworks. At Christmas, enjoy Santa on the Square and the tree lighting or visit the Christmas Home Tour the first weekend in December.
