Do Your Real Estate Blogs Violate State Law?
I just had a new article released in RealtyTimes.com today entitled "Is Your Real Estate Blogging in Violation of State Law?" I think many real estate agents blindly post and promote listings on the Internet, social media and Blogs, but there are rules to follow. Basically in most every state that I know of you cannot advertise a listing without a listing contract. So if a listing sells, expires, re-lists with another agent or is withdrawn from the market..it is no longer your listing, and you no longer have rights as the listing agent to market that property. Some states view it as a criminal offense, fraud and one of deception. It can turn out to be a nuisance for a homeowner to keep answering the door bell...asking to view a home that is no longer available. So now it is not just an agents problem, it is a brokers problem since it is coverend under state license law for brokers to review all advertising....
