DeKalb County Fines Unregistered Foreclosures
DeKalb County GA recently passed a new law that all all foreclosed properties after October 27, 2010 must be registered with DeKalb County. The new rule can be found at the:
DeKalb County Foreclosure Registry
"Beginning October 27, 2010, creditors or mortgagees who foreclose on a property are required by law to register the property with DeKalb County and pay a fee of $175 or face fines in the amount of $1000 per day, per real property, not to exceed $100,000 per real property, per calendar year. Creditors or mortgagees located outside the geographical boundaries of Clayton, DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale Counties are required to designate a local property agent located within these geographical boundaries to ensure security and maintenance of the property in compliance with County Code.
The local property agent must be designated and listed on the registration form. Failure to do so will be a violation of the ordinance and will be subject to a penalty of $1000 per day, per real property, not to exceed $100,000 per real property, per calendar year."
Agents, brokers, and owners of these properties need to know the law before they get involved with Foreclosures in DeKalb County. The results could be dire!
